Terms of Use

Draft for legal review. Version 1, effective 5 October 2026.

These terms are an agreement between you and YadaYada Internet (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/774497/07) ("we", "us") about your use of the Yada Yada app and website. By creating an account you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use Yada Yada

You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a binding agreement. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in details safe and for what happens in your account.

2. What Yada Yada does

Yada Yada reads WhatsApp group chat exports and photos of notices that you choose to share, and turns them into a short list of dates, payments, deadlines and things to bring. It suggests calendar entries and reminders; nothing is added unless you confirm it.

Yada Yada is not made by, endorsed by or connected to WhatsApp or Meta.

3. Check before you act

Yada Yada uses artificial intelligence (AI) to read chats. AI can make mistakes: it can miss a message, misread a date or amount, or put something in the wrong category. Each item shows the message it came from so you can check it. Always check important dates, amounts and payment details against the original message or the school before you act or pay. We aren't responsible for losses caused by relying on an item without checking it.

4. Your content and other people's information

  • Only share chats and notices you're allowed to share. Group chats contain other people's messages and personal information; you're responsible for having a lawful reason to share them with us, for example as a member of that group using the information for your own family's arrangements.
  • You keep ownership of everything you share. You give us permission to process it only to provide the service to you (and, if you use Family, to the people in your family), as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • Don't use Yada Yada to harass anyone, to collect information about people for any other purpose, or to break any law.

5. Yada Yada Plus, trials and payments

  • Every new account gets a 14-day Yada Plus trial. No card is needed, and nothing is charged when it ends; you choose to continue on Free or subscribe.
  • Plus subscriptions are bought and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their terms. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your store account settings; cancelling stops the next renewal.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
  • Free and Plus include fair-use limits (for example, imports per month) that are shown in the app. We may change features or limits; if a change materially reduces what you've paid for, we'll tell you in advance.

6. Family sharing

If you start or join a family, the other adults in it can see your items (not your chats, calendar or reminders). Only invite people you trust. Anyone can leave, and the person who started the family can remove members.

7. Availability

We work hard to keep Yada Yada running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Weak signal, load-shedding or outages at our providers can affect it. We may change or stop parts of the service; if we stop the whole service, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.

8. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Privacy & data). We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why where we reasonably can.

9. Our responsibility to you

To the extent the law allows, Yada Yada is provided "as is", and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by relying on an item without checking it (section 3). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can't be excluded under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll tell you in the app before important changes take effect. If you keep using Yada Yada after that, the new terms apply.

11. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Questions or complaints: [email protected].
